November Report: Time For Pike!

With it being near the end of the regular trout season, we want to remind everyone that we still have some great float trip options. The Androscoggin River in Gorham is open to trout fishing year round and fishes well into November. The pike fishing on the Connecticut River and its reservoirs should stay good through the end of November depending on water temps.

Pike Fishing

Water temps in the 40s on river sections and low 50s on the reservoirs should keep open water conditions through the month. Low-pressure weather systems activate pike feeding. Optimal conditions include calm and cloudy before a storm periods.

Productive fly patterns include Dragon Tail Buffords, Deceivers, and Joe Goodspeed Goophead designs. Orange-colored flies proved most effective throughout the season, with movement and size of the fly probably more important than color.

Recent trips yielded a dozen trout, with tan mopflies outperforming traditional patterns. Winter conditions are pushing fish to slower current zones, requiring anglers to focus on the slowest current you can still drift a fly through.

Availability continues through November 25th, with 2026 reservations already being accepted.
