Live River Conditions
Real-time USGS data for White Mountain rivers, updated through the day.
What This Page Shows
For every river we fish, this page pulls the latest readings from the U.S. Geological Survey stream gauges and turns them into a quick read on whether it is worth heading out.
- Flow (cfs): how much water is moving, compared with the normal range for that river. High, rising water is usually off-color and unsafe to wade; low, clear water means spooky fish.
- Water temperature: trout feed best in cold water and are stressed when a river runs warm. Rivers that are too warm to fish responsibly are flagged.
- Trend: whether flows are rising, falling, or steady over the past day.
- Fishability score: a single rating that combines flow, temperature, clarity, and trend.
Readings refresh about every 15 minutes while the page is open. Gauges occasionally go offline for maintenance or ice; when that happens the river is marked inactive until data returns.
